Summer in The Lord's Acre

Meet Mallika. She'll be an intern for a whopping week and a half. She was working at a growing project in Gerton but heard about us and the garden's tie with feeding the hungry. We spent the weekend hiking and giving her a chance to work in the garden and meet all of us and amazingly she STILL wants to work here so she moved in yesterday. Sadly, on the 29th, she has to go back to college.

We've also been starting seeds here at our house for the fall crops: lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, collards. If we were to plant them directly into the garden, the heat, mice, and insects would probably take their tole on such young plants. Here we're able to nurture them until they're ready for real life in the garden.
